When a storm rolls in, when a camper needs help, when your team needs to reach each other fast, connectivity stops being a convenience and becomes a safety tool.

For camps in rural or remote areas, that reliable connection has been hard to get. Historically, youth camps have faced poor connectivity, and for many it remains out of reach.

The Safety Navigator is working with Starlink to change that.

Today we're excited to announce that the Starlink Impact Plan is now available to qualifying nonprofit and public youth camps through The Safety Navigator.

Why Starlink

Starlink is the world's largest satellite internet provider. It enables high-speed connectivity and serves as a primary connectivity solution with built-in resiliency. It excels as the main connection where terrestrial networks cannot reach, and adds critical redundancy where they do.

At camps, Starlink can support:

  • Daily operations

  • Emergency communications, even in extreme weather conditions. It's engineered to melt snow and withstand sleet, heavy rain and harsh winds.

  • Access to The Safety Navigator's safety tools and resources

What is the Starlink Impact Plan?

Starlink developed the Impact Plan to empower those who drive positive change in their communities. It provides affordable, prioritized Starlink connectivity at a fixed monthly rate of up to $80/month for 2TB of priority data. It will not exceed that rate, and it's often less.

The Safety Navigator is working with Starlink to make the Impact Plan available to qualifying registered nonprofit and public youth camps, ensuring remote and rural camps have access to reliable connectivity.

Who can apply

The program is open to youth camps that are:

  • A registered nonprofit or public camp operating in the United States

  • A registered user of The Safety Navigator platform (it's free and takes just a few minutes to join)

  • Using connectivity to support camp safety and operations

  • Not a U.S. Federal Government agency, and not using federal appropriations

Priority is given to camps in rural or remote areas with limited internet access. For-profit camps are not eligible.

How it works

  1. Apply through The Safety Navigator Hub. Head to the Partner Programs section of the Hub and complete the survey, including basic information about your camp, your location, and how you plan to use Starlink to support safety at your camp.

  2. The Safety Navigator reviews your submission. Our team will review your submission for completeness and let you know what's next.

  3. We introduce you to an authorized Starlink reseller. If your camp is eligible, you'll receive an email introducing you to an authorized Starlink reseller. Camps work directly with the reseller on hardware options, equipment installation, account setup and ongoing service.

  4. Get connected. Once Starlink is set up, you'll have reliable connectivity to support daily operations, emergency communication and access to all of The Safety Navigator's digital tools.

Note: Approval is determined on a case-by-case basis by an authorized Starlink reseller. Eligibility is not guaranteed.

Ready to apply?

If your youth camp is ready for reliable, high-speed internet, apply for the Starlink Impact Plan today in the Partner Programs section of The Safety Navigator Hub. It's free to join.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?

The Impact Plan is up to $80/month for 2TB of priority data. It will not exceed that rate, and it's often less. Exact pricing will be provided by your authorized Starlink reseller and is confirmed at the time of approval. Hardware, installation and content filtration are purchased separately.

I'm already a Starlink customer. Should I apply for this program?

Yes. If your camp already has an active Starlink account and you believe you may qualify, you're encouraged to apply. After your submission is reviewed, you'll receive a separate email with instructions on how to request converting your existing account to the Starlink Impact Plan through the Starlink Support Team.

Is this a one-time offer or ongoing?

The Impact Plan is an ongoing monthly service, not a one-time grant. Approved camps pay a fixed, low monthly fee for the duration of the service, typically on a 12-month term.

Does my camp need to be a Safety Navigator user?

Yes. The Safety Navigator is a free platform, and registration takes only a few minutes.

What hardware do I need?

Your authorized reseller will confirm the appropriate hardware and pricing, including accessories.

Does The Safety Navigator guarantee approval?

No. The Safety Navigator receives submissions and facilitates the reseller introduction, but eligibility and final approval decisions are determined by Starlink. If your camp is not approved for the Impact Plan, we encourage you to explore other options at Starlink.com.

Who do I contact with questions?

For questions about the application or eligibility, contact The Safety Navigator at contact@thesafetynavigator.org. For Starlink hardware, service or account questions, contact your authorized Starlink reseller or visit support.starlink.com.

Reliable connectivity has been one of the biggest gaps we've heard about from camps on the ground. Being able to help close it, especially for the rural camps that need it most, is exactly why we do this work.
